DeTech Multipliers

Detector Technology Electron Multipliers
Detector Technology, Inc. was founded in 1983 in Brookfield, Massachusetts, as a manufacturer of Continuous Dynode Electron Multipliers. In 1988, DeTech expanded its organization to include the Glass Tech division, whose core business was specialty extrusions, draws, and glass formulations for the fiber optic community. By 1992, the rapid growth of both divisions drove the need for a move to a larger, more modern facility in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. In 1996, major company reorganization split the divisions into two separate companies. This was done to better serve the customer base and provided the ability for both divisions to further expand. DeTech retained the electron multiplier product line and relocated the company to Palmer, Massachusetts, where it remains to this day.
DeTech has since expanded its capabilities into contract clean room assembly, Specialty Coatings utilizing Physical Vapor Deposition, and Custom Glass Extrusions and Draws. DeTech retains ISO 9001/2000 quality certification with a major focus on customer support and service.
DeTech multipliers are manufactured from lead glass suitably processed to yield an efficient secondary emitting layer on the inner surface. Each electron multiplier is delivered with a quality control label indicating its model number, test voltage, bias current at the test voltage and the date of shipment.
Small Horn Plug-in EM for All Agilent Mass Spectrometers

DeTech's engineers worked closely with Agilent MSD end-users to develop a replacement for the standard Agilent Plug-In element (Agilent p/n 05971-80103) which offers several performance benefits over the original element, and a much lower cost.
Vented Anode – Vent holes have been added to the anode of the detector to allow for residual gases in the detector channel and anode to be removed during pumping. Removal of these gases improves the performance and life of the detector.
Grid – When input ions enter the horn of a detector secondary electrons are created. These electrons should travel down the channel of the detector, but occasionally the secondary electrons travel out of the horn. The 10-2300 features a grid on the horn, causing all secondary electrons to travel down the detector channel, increasing the signal to noise ratio and the overall performance of the detector.
Lower Operating Voltage – The Model 10-2300 operates at a lower voltage than the standard Agilent element. The tuning voltage of Model 10-2300 is typically 1000V - 1200V. By starting detector operation at a lower voltage the overall lifetime is increased.
Increased Signal to Noise Ratio – When used in an Agilent instrument, the mechanical design changes incorporated into the 10-2300, as well as the optimized channel length, combine to increase the signal to noise ratio by approximately 25 percent.
Robust Design – The Model 10-2300 has a robust stainless steel frame to protect the glass detector from damage.
