Burgener Research

All Burgener Research nebulizers features the patented Parallel Path design. Parallel Path nebulizers employ a large opening (ID) for the sample path to prevent physical obstruction by tiny particulates. The sample path actually increases in size near the gas stream, making plugging virtually impossible.
Burgener's new Enhanced Parallel Path Method significantly improves sample delivery to the torch, enables lower flow rates, and produces a more stable mist than previously possible. Burgener nebulizers are fabricated from Teflon (PTFE, FEP & PFA), so they are practically inert to laboratory chemicals, acids and solvents. Teflon's non-wetting properties also mitigates the common problem of salts forming around the gas stream.
NOTE: Although rare (less than 1% of users have reported this occurrence), there can be some salting from samples with very high sodium (Na) concentrations. This results from a reaction between sodium ions in the sample and the fluorine in the Teflon, but in general, such salting occurs more slowly with Teflon than with other materials. Salts can usually be washed off with a dilute HF acid wash.
Teflon Mira Mist
Salting is very rare, but can occur over long periods of time, especially with high Sodium levels in the solution. Such salting can be cleared easily with a dip in 5 - 10% HF, (Caution: Be careful when handling HF. It soaks into the skin before you feel it burning, and in low concentrations it looks like water.)
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design
- Operates on 0.2 ml/min to 2.5 ml/min
- Excellent mist
- Can handle high levels of particulates in sample
- Fits regular chambers as a direct replacement for glass concentric nebulizers
- Operates on standard pressures of 35 - 45 psi
- Can be used for any liquid

T2100
The T2100 was designed as replacement for T2002 and Trace. The T2100 is essentially unpluggable, and can be used for any liquid. Salting is very rare, but can occur over long periods of time, especially with high Sodium levels in the solution. Such salting can be cleared easily with a dip in 5 - 10% HF, (Caution: Be careful when handling HF. It soaks into the skin before you feel it burning, and in low concentrations it looks and feels like water.)
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design
- Huge Sample Capillary: 750 microns / 1/32 inch
- Operates on 0.5 ml/min to 3.0ml/min
- Excellent mist - not quite as good as Mira Mist, but better than most concentrics
- Can handle high levels of particulates in sample
- Fits regular chambers as a direct replacement for glass concentric nebulizers
- Operates on standard pressures of 35 - 45 psi
- Can be used for any liquid
Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
Burgener Research T2100 Nebulizer |
Recommended for most Instruments, most samples, with concentrated acids, or organic solvents and high levels of undissolved particles, very good stability, %RSD, intensities. Similar to Teflon Mira Mist, but with larger ID sample capillary. Better than T2002 or Trace, but not quite as good as Teflon Mira Mist.

Ari Mist
Very low sample flow. Good for ICP and ICP/MS.
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design

- Only for samples that are particulate free
- Fits regular chambers as a direct replacement for glass concentric nebulizers
- Operates on standard pressures of 40 - 50 psi
Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
Burgener Research Ari Mist Nebulizer |
Recommended for low flow applications for ICP-MS instruments. Handles particulate-free samples, but not some organic solvents, HF, or Sulphuric acid. Excellent stability, %RSD, intensities.

Ari Mist HP
Ultra low sample flow, special application high pressure nebulizer only used when low flow or very high stability and intensities are required.
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design
- Suitable for LC-ICP-MS Analysis
- Can operate on 0.005 ml/min to 1.0 ml/min
- Ultra low uptake (5 µl/min)
- Excellent mist
- Only for samples that are particulate free
- Fits regular chambers as a direct replacement for glass concentric nebulizers
- Operates on higher pressure (80 psi)
- Can be used for any liquid
Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
Burgener Research Ari Mist HP Nebulizer |
Designed for LC-ICP-MS interface, the Ari Mist HP is engineered to be compatible with typical HPLC flow rates for LC-ICP-MS determinations. When run at 10 - 15 µl/min it provides similar results to direct injection nebulizers, without the difficulties of direct injection.
=======================================================================
Enya Mist
Ultra low sample flow. The lowest flow Burgener nebulizer. Designed for LC-ICP-MS interface, tiny samples, and for Split flow applications. The simple addition of a 'T' connection allows for 500ul/min to be pumped to nebulizer, and only 10-20ul/min delivered to nebulizer.
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design
- Operates on 200 nanoliters/min to 50ul/min
- Can NOT handle high level of particulates in sample
- Fits regular chambers as a direct replacement for glass concentric nebulizers
- Operates on standard pressures of 50 psi
Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
Burgener Research Enya Mist Nebulizer |
Produces very low oxides in ICP-MS. Works better with Scott style spray chambers than cyclonics (sample droplets are lost on the wall beside the injection point).
=======================================================================
Mira Mist CE
Special application low flow nebulizer designed for CE-ICP-MS for use when low flow or very high stability and intensities are required.
- Enhanced Parallel Path Design
- Designed for CE-ICP-MS Analysis

T2002
Identical in most respects to the original Burgener Trace, the T2002 also features an inner sample passage larger than the capillary used to carry the sample from pump to nebulizer, so it is theoretically unpluggable and has routine tolerance to high salts and high solids. The T2002 will be discontinued as of January 2010, but nebulizers will be available until that time or beyond, until the inventory runs out.

Mira Mist and Ari Mist Gas and Sample Line Fittings
Mira Mist and Ari Mist nebulizers use 2 mm gas lines and UpChurch finger tight fittings for the sample lines. Although this allows for simple attachment of GC, LC, CE systems, it is not standard for nebulizers. To ensure simple attachment to your instrument, we have an extensive array of fittings available. Gas line fittings are also usually included with the nebulizer. Please let us know the make and model of your instrument, and we will include the necessary fittings at no charge.
