KD Scientific Syringe Pumps

KD Scientific’s selection of OEM syringe pumps for industrial and life science applications range from inexpensive single syringe infusion pumps to multi-syringe infusion/withdrawal pumps which feature independent rate and volume settings for both infusion and withdraw, plus five different mode selections. All KD Scientific syringe pumps have a menu and alphanumeric display to quickly prompt you through set up.

All KD pumps feature preset rate and volume control plus automatic shut-off. Dispense volume is tracked and displayed continuously. When the preset volume has been dispensed, the pump shuts off automatically. Flow rate is continuously variable across the flow rate range.

Each KD Scientific pump employs a sophisticated micro-stepping motor drive to virtually eliminate pulsing. Built-in TTL and RS232C interfaces permit easy external control on many pumps.

KD Scientific syringe pumps are ideal for delivering accurate and precise amounts of fluids for a multitude of syringe pump applications, including infusing a calibrant into a mass spectrometer or reaction chamber, long term drug infusions to animals and general infusion applications.

 

LEGATO 100 SERIES PUMPS

The KD Scientific Legato 100 series offers unparalleled ease of use through the high resolution touch screen user interface. The full touch screen interface enables the user to quickly create configurations and recall them for ease of use. The TFT color display presents all the pump operating parameters on an easy to view run screen.

The password feature prevents accidental configuration changes ensuring the program integrity is retained. The pumps are versatile and can be interconnected through the RS485 interface. Legato 100 series models can be mixed and matched in the daisy chain offering maximum flexibility. Up to 99 pump can be linked together through the RS485 interface.

The Legato optimizes your lab bench space. For limited laboratory space the Legato 100 series can be placed on its side to reduce the footprint. The display can also be changed to allow the user to operate the pump vertically.

LEGATO 200 SERIES PUMPS

The new Legato 200 series is the next generation of syringe pumps

Three basic models ensure the right pump for your application. Infuse only, Infuse and withdraw and Push pull. Each of these pumps is available in a programmable version for maximum flexibility and capability. Each of the basic models work with one syringe or two and can be reconfigured in the field to use with multiple syringes.

The Legato 200 series offers unparalleled ease of use through the high resolution color touch screen user interface. The full touch screen interface enables the user to quickly create configurations and recall them for easy use. The 4.3” TFT color display with touch pad interface presents all the pump operating parameters on one easy to view run screen. Protective cover over the display prevents leakage into the display.

The Legato Series optimizes your lab bench space. For limited laboratory space the Legato 200 Series can be placed on its side to reduce the footprint by 4 Times. The footprint is only 3.5 in x 9.75 in. The display also tilts with the change to allow the user operate the pump vertically.

PUSH-PULL AND CONTINUOUS FLOW PUMPS

Continuous flow can be achieved using a syringe pump simply by adding a 3 way valve. A push/pull style syringe pump can continuously cycle allowing two syringes to dispense fluid while the opposite two syringes are refilling. When the end of one cycle is reached, the pump reverses and the delivery continues. This method will allow a pump to deliver continuously 24/7.

SPECIALTY PUMPS

KD Scientific has a number of specialty products for liquid handling, mixing and detection. Each product is suited to a specific application. The KDS 330 Emulsifier Pump is a push pull pump that is designed to emulsify viscous fluids/suspensions by forcing them back and forth through a micro-emulsifying needle and the Spill Sensor is designed to detect spills around sensitive equipment and to take preventative action if possible. The new KDS 410 is a high pressure syringe pump which more than doubles the linear force available on the KDS 200 series. This extra force makes the pump ideal for delivery of fluid to reactors in chemical applications or for working with viscous fluids.

PROGRAMMABLE PUMPS

All 200 series syringe pumps are available as programmable pumps, as well as the KDS 410 syringe pump. They permit multistep dispenses without the need for computer control.

From the pump keypad, a custom program can be entered which will control the syringe pump from seconds to days; permit the flow rate to be changed for discrete time periods; repeat dispenses control output TTL signals to coordinate with other laboratory instruments (or valves); or respond to inputs from other devices such as switches or relays and to perform loops where dispense sequences are repeated.

The program is divided into time periods called STEPS, each of which can be up to 12 hours long. Each step is automatically numbered and, to simplify programming, a menu prompts the user to select the options available in each step.

The flow rate can be ramped up or down or kept constant for a defined time period for a volume dispense. The initial and final flow rate for each period is entered and the pump automatically makes rate changes over the time period. No need to enter increments for a ramp up or down, the syringe pump automatically ramps the rate linearly.

The syringe pump can be paused and then restarted, either by a time delay or by a TTL input. Both TTL inputs and outputs can be controlled by the pump. The syringe pump can therefore, respond to switch closures or send out signals to actuate a valve, or other relays, switches etc.

Two separate loops can be programmed so that steps can be repeated. The number of repeat operations is controlled by the "loop count". For example, this is helpful when a volume dispense is required repeatedly, triggered by a switch. The two loops can be "nested" so that the program can run for days and complex dispenses can be repeated many times.

Each step offers these options:

1. Time duration from one second up to 12 hours
2. Travel direction – Infuse or withdraw (where available)
3. Beginning flow rate (µl/hr to ml/min range)
4. End flow rate (µl/hr to ml/min range)
5. Pause – Waits for an external trigger to start
6. Status of output TTL pins
7. Loop option – Loops back to any previous step and repeats the intermediate steps. Two separate loops are available.
8. Set the count in the loop cycle. Steps may be repeated up to 100 times.
