HPS Matrix Modifiers are designed for use in Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (GFAAS). Matrix modifiers are added to the sample to prevent analyte loss during the ashing step by converting the analyte to a less volatile form.

Note: the addition of Ni(NO3)2 prevents the loss of selenium while Pd(NO3)2 is effective for antimony, arsenic, bismuth, gallium, germanium, lead, phosphorus, selenium, tellurium and thallium.
